$6B on Oil & Gas Exploration in Vietnam

Vietnam Oil & Gas Corp. may spend $6 billion on oil and gas exploration through 2010 as demand for energy grows in the expanding economy. Vietnam’s oil production, the third-highest in South-East Asia after Indonesia and Malaysia, slid by 8 per cent in the first three quarters of the year to about 354,000 barrels a day, based on PetroVietnam figures. Vietnamese Seafood Export On The Rise

Can Tho City exported more than 31,000 tons of seafood products for US $212 Million in 2006, a year-on-year increase of 78%, this total is approximately half of the city’s export revenues. The increase is attributed the good performance of the sector to market research, active promotion activities and the application of advanced post-harvest and processing technologies. Can Tho seafood consortium is marketing their products in 30 countries in Asia, Europe and North America. (VNA)

Exit Saigon, Enter Little Saigon: Vietnamese America since 1975 Exhibit Opens at the Smithsonian in Washington DC

This exhibition explores how Vietnamese Americans have been perceived by Americans during the last three decades since the war in South East Asia and the challenges they faced. The exhibition also highlights the contributions they have made to American culture. The exhibit runs from January 19, 2007 - April 1, 2007. You can enter The International Gallery from the copper-domed kiosk of the S. Dillon Ripley Center.
